an update

Well, it’s been almost two months of me living here in Panama with Lisa, and it’s time for a quick update.

The internet service has been awful, we’re stuck on a 512kb/s Wimax connection (Wipet), that, 1) doesn’t let you change DNS servers (i really miss openDNS), 2) blocks sites (yayhooray.com takes me to the ISP’s servers and not the site) and 3) only works for one computer at a time (i’ve worked around it by not using a wifi router with it and instead plugging the modem directly to my macbook and then using internet sharing to do the rest (which coincidentally was not working on the ipod touch until the latest leopard update (10.5.2))). Did I mention it’s really expensive? On the upside, there is a Dunkin’ Donuts near our apartment with a 2mbit wifi network that no one uses, their coffee is shit though.

Food, on the other hand, is amazing here. Our favorite restaurants serve orgasmic seafood and impressive arabic dishes (including the best steak i’ve ever had, though it doesn’t really fit under arabic food). Really nice places and you can’t miss them if you visit Panama, Manolo Caracol and Habibi’s.

In general we are having an awesome time, we really like the city. Panama has been good, and there’s still a couple of months to go!. Oh yeah, we are open for couchsurfers!.

P.S.: I have been getting several advertising proposals for the site, and I’m playing with a few, just so you know.
